Adventures in Sewing - your choice This class is divided into three sessions so we can take the sewing process step by step. In the first session, we will be discussing pattern selection, fabric compatibility and measuring. The second session we will cut out your fabric and sew practice samples using your own machine or the machines that are available in the studio. In the third session, we will assemble the garment.

Sharing the Ageless Art of Sewing |

Get Reacquainted with your Sewing Machine-Through a Basic Sewing Project In this class, you will construct a simple zippered which can be used for a clutch or make-up bag. You may use your own machine (finely tuned) or one of ours. If bringing your own machine, please also bring along its instruction booklet. You may have remnants of fabric at home that you can use or I can supply fabric pieces, thread, zipper, and other supplies.. Materials needed: Included in class. Revamping Your Wardrobe by making your clothes FIT you. Are you in love with a garment in your closet, but it just doesn’t fit quite right? Do you have a favorite garment that is too long or too wide for you? We will analyze the fit proportion and options in order to adjust the garment to make it exclusively yours. Develop Your Fitting Skills 1 - Skirts Develop Your Fitting Skills 2 - Pants Develop Your Fitting Skills 3 – Blouses and Dresses Materials needed: Bring your own garments and any favorite tools you may have. Sustainable Living: Clothing Repair and Preservation Re-sew buttons and snaps, easy seam repair, hand and machine hemming. Discussion, demonstration, and implementation will bring new life to your clothes. Bring a few articles in need repair along with matching thread. Check your closet or find some things at Savers or other places like Divine Find Consignment Boutique.
Materials needed: Bring your garments that are in need of repair, matching thread and any favorite tools you may have. For example, scissors, ripper, snips… . Class time: 1 - 2 hour session

Sewing For Kids! This class is hands-on experience for the first time sewer. Students will be introduced to the sewing machine and its functions as well as handling, lay-out and cutting basics of fabric. A pillowcase made by you! Ages—7and up.
Materials needed: 2 yards of cotton or poly/cotton fabric and matching thread. And any favorite tools you may have. For example, scissors, ripper, snips... Class time: 1-2 ½ hour session

The Parlor will be open for you to work on your own project using the space, equipment and my assistance. The space is available for up to 5 people. Pre-registration is as easy as calling at least one day to be sure the time and space is available.

Would you like some one on one instruction to focus on specific techniques or to develop a set of patterns for yourself? Or, maybe you want to start at square one and move at your own pace. This is your time—just for you.

This is one of my favorite alterations! You will be amazed at how simple it is to do. If you can sew a garment, you can reline a coat. This class takes you from removing the lining, creating a pattern for the new one, and then replacing the old lining with the new one (you will be required to purchase fabric for the lining). You will look like a pro when your friends see what you have done!
Required Materials: Bring your own garment, matching thread, appropriate lining (which will be discussed in the first session).

If you can’t find the pillows to match your room or Café curtains to fit your windows, this is the class for you! Instruction, examples and demonstration will be covered in the first session. In the second session you will work on your project in the studio with guidance. You may sign up for one session or both session 1 and 2.

This is an introduction to sewing. We will learn how to use a pattern catalog as a reference, choose patterns and calculate yardage. We will lay out the fabric and pattern for efficient cutting . We will cover sewing terminology and use machines available in the studio or a finely tuned sewing machine brought from home. Your child will be able to complete a project. Ages 7 and up.

Do you want to change the silhouette of that 90’s jacket you’ve held in your closet? In this class, you will learn to use hand basting skills, reshape reset sleeves into armholes, inner support materials and reapply lining. Step by step instruction makes this alteration not as complex as it seems.

Advanced Sewer |

The Little Black Dress — for that Special Occasion It doesn’t need to be black but using couture techniques will create a dress that is created professionally and people will ask, “who’s the designer of your dress?”. The first session we will meet to discuss the best style for you and your body type , what type of fabric and importance of inter-support materials. The second class we will fit and make pattern adjustments. The final class will focus on the construction of the garment. There is some cutting and sewing required outside of class.
